Public Housing FAQs

Thank you for your interest in Public Housing. The PCHA provides and facilitates affordable housing for 450 apartment homes. Public Housing was established to provide safe, clean and affordable rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities. Public Housing comes in all sizes and types of apartment homes from one to five bedrooms in six different locations throughout Panama City.

What is public Housing

Public Housing was established to provide safe, clean and affordable rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly and persons with disabilities.

Who is eligible?

Public Housing is limited to low-income families and individuals. PCHA determines your eligibility based on income and qualifying as elderly, family and/or a person with a disability.

If you are eligible, PCHA will check your background for criminal history, credit as it relates to your rental history and references from past Landlords.

Where is the PCHA office located where I would apply?

PCHA is not currently accepting applications.

Dow do I apply?

All waitlists are currently closed and we are not accepting applications.

What if I need to make changes to my application?

Please contact our office asap if any of your information has changed. It is imperative that your phone, mailing address, and email address information is kept current with PCHA so we may contact you when you have been selected. Without current information we may be unable to contact you and you may miss your opportunity for public housing.

When will I be notified?

The official notification will be made by mail. Once your name is reached on the waiting list, PCHA will mail a selection letter to you. This letter will provide you with the next steps in the application process.
